for all you CFers, or even "normal" folks who've been under general anesthesia a time or two...is it normal for my throat to still hurt and for me to be pretty hoarse several days after surgery? I know it's normal right after surgery, since I was intubated and all, and my guess is simply being intubated back to back (once last Friday for the first surgery, and then again Tuesday for the second biopsy) has done a number on my poor throat, but I have nothing else to compare it to so I thought I'd throw the question out there.
In other news...there's not much news. Kidneys still not changing - no better, no worse, which I guess is neutral news as well. Trying to be patient, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't starting to get kinda pissed. I feel like I've given them (the kidneys, that is) quite a break. Time to get back to it. My head is hurting again, but hopefully not for long (wonderful dilaudid is supposedly on its way, though everything seems to take longer on this end of the floor - not b/c of the nurses, it's just that my room is farther away from everything important). Mostly just annoyed/concerned about my lack of a voice and/or comfort eating anything but ice cream...
I've had that. After a surgery when they did a broncoscopy they seemed to have caught my throat and the wiggly thing at the back. It was all sore and white, aparently a tad burnt. Eugh. Took just under 2 weeks to get the swelling completely down, back to 'normal' (Whatever that is!) But yeah, ice cream (and jelly, mmm) are basically the only thing you can do! Xx
